LIVE REPORT: YAWNING MAN Fall tour @ C.I.Q Milano 07/10/2026

English translation
Imagine CatHouse packing its bags, leaving behind the glossy atmosphere of the Sunset Strip to head straight to Palm Desert... for an evening dedicated to Desert Rock. When talking about Desert Rock and psychedelic stoner, there are names that belong to legend, and Yawning Man undoubtedly lead the pack. Formed in the late '80s in La Quinta, California, and led by the charismatic guitarist Gary Michael Arce, Yawning Man are considered the true spiritual godfathers of an entire genre. Without their intuition of blending hypnotic melodies, endless reverbs, warm grooves, and a unique instrumental psychedelic vein, the Palm Desert scene would never have been the same: peers like Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, and Fu Manchu have always recognized in them the primordial spark that gave life to the iconic Generator Parties in the heart of the Californian desert. And that is exactly the atmosphere we breathed at CIQ: a genuine Desert Music Night capable of transforming the outskirts of Milan into a boundless expanse beneath the Californian stars. Warming up the atmosphere before the headliners took the stage were local act Tropic Santos, a trio whose raw, tribal sound provided the perfect opening to prepare the crowd for the night's psychedelic trance... Go check out their album Caccia Grossa, because it's well worth it. When Yawning Man took the stage, the magic unfolded... On their Pavement Ends autumn tour, there are no frills, very few words, and total space left for the music: Gary Arce’s guitar textures, intertwined with an impeccable and enveloping rhythm section featuring legendary bassist Mario Lalli and drummer Tony Tornay, accompanied on synth by Pia Isa, created a seamless flow of soundscapes. The tracks bled into one another in an almost meditative experience, where every note echoed through the air like a echo in a canyon. An evocative and dreamy concert, which proved once again that Yawning Man don't simply play music: they paint soundscapes and transport the listener straight into the beating heart of the desert. A memorable night for anyone who loves rock in its most authentic, free, and pure form.
